Grenade Explosion at a Store of Lebanese MP Supporter
A grenade hurled at a furniture shop owned by a supporter of Sidon MP Mustafa Saad in the coastal city early on Monday caused extensive damage to nearby vehicles, but there were no casualties, reported Daily Star.
Unknown assailants threw the grenade at Abu Arab Baba's shop in Qabaa, eastern Sidon at around 4 a.m., shattering windows of several cars parking nearby.
Abu Arab, who is one of Saad's key election aides, told The Daily Star that a grenade exploded in the same place during the 1996 elections, causing a similar amount of damage.
There have been similar violent incidents in Lebanon lately attributed to disputes among rivals running for seats at the parliament. Elections will take place on August 27th and September 3rd. – Albawaba.com.
