I think it admirable of President Obama and Mr. Hagel to want to help Syria. As an American, I am trying to figure out where they think they are going to get a multi-billion dollar budget to do this? That is, taking into consideration that we are $17 trillion in debt (climbing as we speak), the majority of which we owe China who financed us a loan in good conscious and good will. If we have that kind of money to spend, why then aren't we repaying that to China? And what about our own dire straits in America. Our situation may have improved 1/32 of an inch over the past year, but it is a far cry to Americans rising above $9.00/hr. jobs with college degrees, or still losing their homes, or housing unaffordable to those who can't rise above their situation because wages are so low with still rising costs, making our cost-of-living a joke! Our Obama healthcare needs serious changes made before it would be worth a darn for Americans to consider it worth their time and effort. The money spent on lavishness at the White House gatherings could easily feed those in the state of Delaware. Even those kinds of dollars could be used to replace the bilking of millions from Social Security over the many years that put our seniors now and future in dire straits. I wish I could help Syria, but I am on disability, 61 yrs. old, no auto (can't afford one) and don't have enough for a passport to get there.
