Harry Winston wins two awards at the Middle East Watches, Jewellery & Pens Awards – 2006 edition
For the second consecutive year, MPPArabia conducted the First Middle East Watches & Jewellery Awards, presented alongside Jewellery Arabia 2006. The Presentation Ceremony was held to the accompaniment of a grand, gala dinner reception held at the Al Ghazal Ballroom at The Ritz Carlton, the most prestigious hotel in the Kingdom of Bahrain on the inaugural night of Jewellery Arabia 2006.
After winning last year the 'Best Masterpiece' award for the Opus IV and the 'Best High End Jewelled Watch' for the Signature Lace, Harry Winston, once again, makes a remarkable win in both the ‘Best Ladies watch’ and ‘Best diamond studded necklace’ category. The winner for the ‘Best Ladies watch’ was granted to the Harry Winston Ocean Lady Biretro, a timepiece presented at Basel World 2006. As for the ‘best diamond studded necklace’, the award went to the Harry Winston Burmese and Sapphire necklace, which was Harry Winston’s central masterpiece at the recent Paris Biennale exhibition.
The winners were selected by an independent committee of 18 members carefully drawn from well-known connoisseurs and collectors of watches, jewellery and pens in the region. The voting also included 13,838 entries from member of the public across the Middle East who were made aware of the mechanism through a well-orchestrated advertising campaign conducted throughout the Middle East in English and Arabic.
The entire procedure was continually monitored by Pan Arab Research Centre (PARC), a leading media monitoring agency in conjunction with Gallup International. The winner list was completed from a short-list of three finalists in each category.
The formal sit-down gala dinner attracted over 300 distinguished guests that included members of Royalty, dignitaries, celebrities, professionals from the world of outstanding watches, fascinating jewellery, fine writing pens and related accessories and journalist from the general and trade press.
Those attending also included the Ambassadors of Germany, Lebanon, Turkey and Kuwait to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The prized trophies, especially produced by leading French luxury crystal makers, Baccarat, were presented to Harry Winston at a Presentation Ceremony accompanying Gala Dinner. The Show was hosted by glamorous Lebanese show presenter and diva Dania El Khatib.
