HH SHEIKH JUMA BIN MAKTOUM INAUGURATES EXHIBITION BY SPECIAL CHILDREN
The Rashid Centre, a humanitarian organization that provides quality education, therapy and other services to children with Special Needs together with luxury Swiss watchmaker Baume & Mercier and Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons organised the exhibition.
The exhibition was themed “interpretation of time” and the paintings were created by young children with special needs including Amal, Aliya, Rebecca, Khalid, Najat, Kawkab, Saad, Mahek, Khuzaymat and Batool.
“A feeling of calmness and wonder overcomes the visitor when first encountering these paintings particularly when you take into consideration the fact that these are special children,” said Mohammed Seddiqi, Chief Operating Officer of Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons. Produced by ten students from the Rashid Centre, the paintings are neatly arranged in the art gallery and throw light on the students’ inventive gifts in art.
I am amazed at their ability to record realistically every nuance of a watch and one student in particular Kawkab, who was still fasting had the hands of the clock accurately set to a few minutes past 6.00 PM for Iftaar time,” Mr. Seddiqi concluded.
The special care centre provides quality education and therapy services. These include a special education curriculum for all classes as well as Speech-Language, Physio and Occupational Therapy. The centre also offers weekly classes for music, art, music therapy, swimming, after-school dance and yoga sessions.
