Huawei Global Contract Sales Hits USD11 Billion in 2006
Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next generation networks for telecommunications operators around the world, today announced that its global contract sales for 2006 has reached USD 11 billion, representing a year-over-year growth rate of over 34 percent. The increase is a result of continued market growth in the product areas of mobile network, next generation network ("NGN"), optical networks, data communications, software and applications and Internet Protocol.
International markets represented 65 percent of total contract sales generated in 2006. Huawei continued to achieve significant market breakthroughs in developed countries such as Japan, North America and Europe. Huawei now serves 31 of the world's top 50 operators, including Vodafone, Telefonica, KPN, FT/Orange, Hellenic Telecommunications Organization SA (“OTE”) and Italia Telecom. In the area of mobile network infrastructure, Huawei has to date won 78 3G contracts; Of these 47 were UMTS based with 16 projects implemented in Europe.
