Hundreds killed and wounded in Iranian quakes
Killer quakes, ranging between 4.7 to 6 degrees on the Richter scale, early Friday claimed lives of dozens of Iranians and wounded more than 700 others, inflicting heavy damage on provincial cities of Dorud and Borujerd.
Head of the Natural Disasters Headquarters in Lorestan Province Ali Barani told IRNA the quake left at least 50 people killed and 700 injured, with all the villages in Dasht Silakhor, a region between the quake-stricken cities of Dorud and Borujerd, and the epicenter of the quake, suffering between 30 to 100 percent damage.
Two relatively strong earthquakes caused panic in the cities of Arak and Shazand in Markazi province late Thursday and early Friday. The quakes reported at 23:15 (local time) and 04:50.
The epicenter of the second quake with magnitude of 6 degrees on the Richter scale was registered in Chalanchovan in Doroud city of Lorestan province.
