Ibn Battuta Mall celebrates its most successful DSF to date
World class entertainment results in record number of visitors
Ibn Battuta Mall, the largest themed mall in the Middle East is celebrating its most successful DSF to date following its award for outstanding contribution to DSF. The award, presented yesterday at a ceremony at Zabeel Park follows a record breaking increase in visitors attracted by the mall’s 45 day programme of world class entertainment including the Cirque du Soleil.
The winning entertainment line up included stage shows, a magic act, all day arts and crafts workshops for children along with interactive games for all the family. Among the highlights was the Flying Jansen who travelled especially to Dubai from Germany to open Ibn Battuta Mall’s DSF celebrations with his world renowned acrobatic act.
Inspired by the Cirque du Soleil taking place in the grounds of Ibn Battuta Malls, this year’s celebrations were an artistic spectacle combining a unique blend of family fun together with the drama of the theatre, world class performing arts and spectacular prizes under the one roof.
“This year’s DSF has been a great success and has offered visitors a truly memorable experience each and every visit. Ibn Battuta Mall is proud to have brought world class entertainment to the community. Visitors were able to take advantage of the great retail discounts on offer as well as experience some of the best family fun Dubai had to offer ,” said Sandy Mercer, Marketing Manager, Ibn Battuta Mall.
In addition Ibn Battuta Mall gave away hundreds of prizes to shoppers throughout the 45 day event including cordless telephones, perfume, watches, Ipod Nanos, Samsung LCDs, Nintendo games, digital cameras, mobile phones, stereos and laptops as part of their Magic Memory Game.

About Ibn Battuta Mall
Ibn Battuta Mall is located adjacent to Sheikh Zayed Road between Interchanges 5 and 6. The Mall combines retail, entertainment, restaurant and family activities all within a uniquely themed environment. The inspiration for the theme of Ibn Battuta Mall is the travels of the legendary Arab explorer Ibn Battuta. The unique design of the shopping mall and separately themed courts are based on his travels through Asia and the Middle East. Each of the six courts is themed on a country and a shopping zone to reflect Ibn Battuta's travels through Andalusia, Tunisia, Egypt, Persia, India and China. The spacious Mall, covering an area of 3.1 million square feet, offers a charming mix of shopping outlets, specialty shops, restaurants, a hypermarket and a cinema Megaplex featuring the UAE's first IMAX theatre. Parking space has been allocated for more than 5,000 cars, taking the total site space up to 5.4 million square feet.
