Indonesian VP to Visit Libya in September
Indonesian Vice President Hamzah Haz will visit Libya at the end of this month for talks with Libyan officials on ways to enhance bilateral ties between the two countries, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).
Deputy speaker of Indonesia's parliament (DPR) A.M. Fatwa said, after meeting with President Megawati Soekarnoputri at her office on Wednesday, that Libyan leader Moammar Kadhafi had extended his wish to meet with the Indonesian President in a bid to exchange views and mend ties and cooperation between the two countries.
Fatwa said, as quoted by the Antara News Agency, that Kadhafi had conveyed his wish to DPR members when they visited Libya in August.
"Megawati herself welcomes the offer, but she is still looking for the right moment to do so. In the meantime the vice president will represent her and travel to Libya," Fatwa said.
