INJAZ Al-Arab to Start Operations in Pakistan
INJAZ Al-Arab, a non-profit organization that works with private-sector volunteers to teach entrepreneurship and workforce readiness to young people, is proud to announce it will start operations in Pakistan next year with generous support from private equity group Abraaj Capital.
INJAZ's goal is to reduce unemployment, and empower school leavers and college graduates by encouraging a culture of entrepreneurship and assisting them with financial literacy skills.
The contribution from Abraaj Capital will fund the first three years of operation, giving INJAZ the support it needs to establish a presence in Pakistan and start impacting youth.
On entering Pakistan, INJAZ will seek support of local businesses for volunteers to help in schools. Initially, INJAZ will target non-profit schools and then government institutions. Operations will most likely begin the city of Karachi involving a pilot scheme of 500 students in the first year, before growing and expanding to other cities, covering 2,000 students in the second year and as many as 4,000 in the third year. In all, more than 6,000 students are expected to benefit from the programme.

"What we need now is the support of Pakistani businesses to offer us volunteers who can assist us in spreading the word and skills of entrepreneurship in the crucial and tried-and-tested endeavor," said Soraya Salti, INJAZ Senior Vice President in the Middle East and North Africa. "In the Arab world, where unemployment is a serious problem, INJAZ has had an extremely positive impact on thousands of young people, giving them additional skills and approaches that improve their chances in the job market."
INJAZ's most impactful program is 'The Company Program,' where students create a company, capitalize it, sell the products and then liquidate the company through a process led by volunteers from the business community. In a competition, there are country, then regional finals and an annual winner.
