Inspection & Quarantine Procedures For The 16th Asian Games
The 16th Asian Games (www.gz2010.cn/en), part of the worldwide Olympic movement and governed by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is announcing specific entry/exit procedures on a wide range of items relating to the 2010 Games.
The Asian Games are the second largest sports event in the world after the Summer Olympic Games.
The Guangzhou Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau and the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (GAGOC) have released the Instruction on Inspection and Quarantine of the Entry-Exit People and Articles for the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games.
The instruction specifies a range of issues on the inspection and quarantine of the entry-exit people and articles for the Games, including:
The exemption from inspection of non-trading entry articles;
The simplification of entry procedures for personal articles carried by Asian Games
The inspection and quarantine of personal foods, animals and plants as well as other
articles carried by Asian Games delegations;
The quarantine of guide dogs and pets carried by Asian Games delegations and
The quarantine of wood packing materials of Asian Games articles.
In particular, the inspection and quarantine authorities have simplified entry procedures for personal articles carried by Asian Games delegations, releasing a number of policies for the convenience of customs clearance of these articles which grant the exemption from being put on record of batteries and used mechanical and electrical products and the exemption from certification of products prescribed for the CCC Compulsory Certification.
Inspection and quarantine authorities began this effort in 2008 and have established cooperation mechanisms with GAGOC and relevant ports and carried out a number of tasks, including:
The renovation of customs clearance facilities at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport
and Guangzhou East Railway station ports;
The submission of the report on requirements of inspection and quarantine policies;
The formation of an Asian Games service team and
The planning for the equestrian venue.
All personal articles carried by Asian Games delegations will be declared at ports and inspected and quarantined at the Asian Games Town. The cancellation after verification will be carried out after the Games. There will be an inspection and quarantine office in the Asian Games Town with a 24-hour telephone hotline available prior to and during the Games.
