The programs director at INTERPOL John Graul said that the proposed INTERPOL Travel Document (ITD) is an international secured document and it is aimed at the identification of the law enforcement staff related with official duties of INTERPOL and to facilitate their movements at international level.

John Graul emphasized that the ITD will be of two forms. E-passport and electronic identification card and the INTERPOL will comply with standards of International Organization of Civil Aviation and International Standardization Organization.

According to him, the ITD can be issued for the law enforcement staffs approved by central national bureaus in member countries, INTERPOL executive committee members, members of other supervisory bodies, concerned experts and staffs of general secretariat of the INTERPOL.

"The ITD holder cab be exempted from visa or they can be provided with instant visas on arrival. Otherwise, the member country can agree on any other privileged form of allowing visa', John added. "Those who hold valid ITD can be given entry to the member country or transit through the country by using ITD along with his national passport in case the member country invited him for some official assignments related with INTERPOL", he continued.

"The government of each country is free to decide whether it can allow the ITD holder to travel to that country without obtaining prior visa wherever it is required. The country is also free to decide necessary requirements for visa waiver", John Graul said.
