Iran's President Hassan Rouhani has called for a halt to Saudi-led airstrikes in Yemen, Reuters has reported.
He said that the coalition of Saudi Arabia and its allies would not be able to succeed and that countries in the Middle East should look at a political solution.
"A great nation like Yemen will not submit to bombing. Come, let us all think about ending war. Let us think about a cease-fire," Rouhani said in a speech on television.
Airstrikes against Houthis in Yemen have been going on since March. They are carried out by Saudi Arabia and a coalition that includes four other Gulf states.
Rouhani called for Yemenis to come to the negotiating table to decide their future. "Let us accept that the future of Yemen will be in the hands of the people of Yemen, not anyone else," he said.
