Iran’s FM, Yemen’s President Hold Talks on Regional Security
Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi held talks with Yemen's President Ali Abdullah Saleh in Sanaa Sunday on strengthening regional security, said reports.
Kharazi, who arrived in Sanaa on Saturday for a two-day visit, reviewed "the latest developments between Iran and Iraq, the regional situation" and joint efforts to boost security, said AFP.
Tension has increased between Baghdad and Tehran following Iran's missile attacks on April 18 against Iranian opposition bases inside Iraq that killed seven people.
"All regional countries must work together to reinforce regional security and stability in the region and serve the interests of its people," Saleh said in the meeting.
He added that “Yemen welcomes the current developments in Tehran-Sanaa relations and contacts between senior Iranian and Yemeni officials indicate the high level of bilateral relations, the official Iranian news agency (IRNA) cited him as saying.
He also called for taking practical steps to implement the accords already reached between the two countries.
He said that the Yemeni government has provided legal provisions to encourage foreign investment and said that investment in Yemen is another ground for cooperation.
Kharaz is to travel on to Djibouti on Monday, said IRNA – Albawaba.com
