Iran’s Speaker Says US Interference Causing Tensions in Region
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mehdi Karroubi said on
Saturday that US interference was causing tensions and crises in the region, and called on “freedom-loving nations to decisively stand up against Washington's monopoly.”
In a meeting with outgoing Cuban Ambassador to Iran Dario de Urra Torriente, Karroubi denounced US intervention in every part of the globe and called for strong action by the international community to put an end to it, reported the official Iranian news agency, IRNA.
The speaker hailed excellent Tehran-Havana relations, saying that the Iranian people honored the revolutionary record of the Cuban nation.
He said that the two countries had common views on international issues and appreciated Tehran-Havana cooperation within international organizations including the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement
(NAM) and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
Karroubi said development of parliamentary relations between the two countries would greatly serve to bolster Tehran-Havana diplomatic relations.
Torriente, for his part, expressed pleasure with the trend in bilateral relations.
He said that the current exchange of diplomatic delegations between the two countries indicated the high level of interest in developing relations, especially trade ties, according to IRNA – Albawaba.com
