Iran foreign minister winds up Ukraine visit
Iran's Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi concluded his
official visit to Ukraine and returned to the Islamic Republic on Wednesday.
During his Kiev visit, the Iranian minister held separate
talks with President Leonid Kuchma, Prime minister Victor
Yankovich and his Ukrainian counterpart Konstantin Grischchenko.
The two sides discussed "possible ways for bolstering bilateral cooperation in various fields particularly in trade and economic areas", according to IRNA news agency.
The agency said the Ukrainian officials pointed to Tehran's role in the international arena and stressed the country's importance in restoring peace and stability in the region.
In addition, Iran and Ukraine reached agreements on a range of issues including preferential tariffs to increase the export of Iranian products to Kiev.
Kharrazi and Ukrainian officials also reviewed the transfer of Iran's gas to Europe via Ukraine and the two countries' potentials in the fields of railway and transit of goods. (Albawaba.com)
