Iran's FM Holds Talks with Egyptian President in Cairo
Iranian foreign minister, Kamal Kharrazi, held Saturday in Cairo talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, reported the Iranian News Agency (IRNA).
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the third Developing Eight (D-8), summit which seeks to enhance economic cooperation between eight Muslim countries, said the agency.
The group comprises Egypt, Iran, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Turkey and Nigeria.
Kharrazi arrived in Cairo Friday night, and met with
his Egyptian counterpart, Amr Moussa, for bilateral talks, said the agency.
The Tehran-Cairo ties have significantly warmed since last June when Iranian President Mohammed Khatami spoke by phone with Mubarak, the first contact between the presidents of the two countries since 1979.
