Iraqi FM Embarks on Arab Tour ahead of Islamic Summit
Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed Said al-Sahhaf on Tuesday embarked on a five-nation Arab tour ahead of the Islamic summit in Doha, the official news agency INA reported.
It said he was carrying a message from President Saddam Hussein to the leaders of Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Qatar and Yemen on the summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) that is to take place on November 12-14.
Iraq, which has called for a jihad, or Muslim holy war, against Israel, said last week that it would press fellow OIC members to devote the summit exclusively to the Palestinian question.
After an OIC meeting of foreign ministers in Kuala Lumpur in June, Baghdad lashed out at the Saudi-based organization for its failure to support a lifting of UN sanctions in force against Iraq since its 1990 invasion of Kuwait - BAGHDAD (AFP)
