Iraqi President Removes Deputy Prime Minister
Iraqi President Saddam Hussein removed Tuesday a deputy prime minister from his government and appointed an acting interior minister amid recent changes in the ruling Baath party, said reports.
A presidential decree said “Deputy Prime Minister Mohammed Hamza Al Zubeidi was removed from the government,” reported Reuters.
Zubeidi, one of three deputy PMs, was also removed from the ruling Revolutionary Command Council, which is led by Saddam, the agency added.
In another decree, Iraqi Minister for Irrigation Mahmoud Diyab AL Ahmed has been given the additional job of interior minister, after the removal of Mohammad Zimam Abdel Razzak on Monday, said the BBC online.
However, Ahmed is to serve at the interior ministry only in an acting capacity.
The outgoing interior minister, Mohammad Zamam Abdul Razzak, has been assigned to the northern provinces of Kirkuk and Niniveh, where he will be Ba'ath party chief, said the news service – Albawaba.com
