Iraqi President Reviews New Monument to 'Mother of all Battles'
Iraq's President Saddam Hussein has examined scale models of a monument commissioned to commemorate the "Mother of all Battles", Baghdad's term for the 1991 Gulf War, newspapers reported Wednesday.
Several Iraqi artists, sculptors and architects constructed scale models of the monument in a competition initiated by Saddam, the papers said.
The Iraqi leader said in a speech broadcast by television late Tuesday "future generations have a right to have such a monument symbolizing the sacrifices of the children of the mother of all battles."
