Iraqi President Says Iraq Capable of Destroying Israel
Iraqi President Saddam Hussein said Iraq could destroy Israel if it was given access to a border strip with the Jewish state, newspapers reported on Wednesday.
"We must put an end to Zionism and if they (the Arabs) are not capable, Iraq is capable of putting an end to it on its own," Saddam said in a meeting with university academics.
"Let them give us a small portion of territory and support us from a distance, they will see how we can put an end to Zionism in a very short period of time," he said.
