Israeli Commission to Study Repression of Israeli Arabs
This commission will look at "the clashes at the start of the month between the Israeli security forces and the Israeli civilians, Arabs and Jews" in the north of Israel, according to a statement from the prime minister's offices.
The clashes resulted in the deaths of 12 Israeli Arabs, shot by the security forces and one Jew killed by a stone thrown by Arabs at his car.
The commission must decide if the police used excessive force in oopening fire to clear the roads.
At the beginning of October, Israeli Arabs staged huge demonstrations in support of the Palestinians, only to be severely crushed by Israeli police -- JERUSALEM (AFP)
