Israeli Police Claim Members of PFLP Cell Arrested in Jerusalem
The Israeli police and the Shabak security service on Tuesday announced the arrest of six alleged members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), reported Radio Israel.
They said the suspects, aged 19-23, were planning anti-Israeli attacks in occupied east Jerusalem, where they live.
The report, however, did not link the detainees with a suicide bombing in the city early Tuesday in which more than 15 persons were wounded.
The PFLP has vowed to take revenge on Israel for assassinating its leader, Abu Ali Mustapha, in a missile attack on his office last week.
It has already claimed responsibility for the killing of an Israeli settler on the day of the assassination, and for four car bombs that exploded in occupied Jerusalem on Monday, wounding five people.
The latest Palestinian uprising against 34 years of Israeli military occupation began in September 2000.
The ratio of Palestinians to Israelis killed stands at around four to one.
According to Amnesty International, Israeli soldiers have killed roughly 100 Palestinian children, nearly all in situations where the safety of the occupation forces was in no immediate danger – Albawaba.com
