Jafza’s participation in TurkeyBuild 2005 generates interest among Turkish construction companies to invest in the free zone
Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (Jafza) has announced that their participation in International TurkeyBuild 2005, the premier construction industry exhibition in the region, that was held from May 4-8, 2005 in Istanbul, Turkey, has helped in generating substantial interest among participant construction companies to invest in the free zone. The Jafza delegation to Turkey included Abdullah Al Banna, Marketing Manager, Jafza, Ahmed Al Falasi, Regional Manager, Middle East, Jafza and Bassam Yaldarm, Jafza representative in Turkey.
This year, the fair attracted more than 80,000 visitors from over 60 countries and included architects, engineers, building contractors, buyers, wholesalers, manufacturers, decision makers and professionals from the construction industry.
Commenting on their participation, Abdullah Al Banna, Jafza, said, “This is the second time Jafza is taking part in this event, which is one of the leading trade exhibitions for the construction industry. The main reason for our participation in the event was to promote Jafza among the participating construction companies and we have been extremely successful in realising this objective.”
“A number of leading companies from the construction industry expressed their desire to set up operations in Jafza, to capitalise on the booming real estate market in the UAE. In addition, the efforts of Bassam Yaldarm have also contributed in promoting the free zone. Construction companies establishing their operations in the free zone will also benefit from Jafza’s zoning projects,” he added.
International TurkeyBuild 2005 was held in an area of 60,000 square meters with the presence of more than 700 domestic and foreign companies, who were spread across seven exhibition halls. The exhibited products included the whole range of construction and furnishing equipment, in addition to computer software, security systems and signage and display elements.
During the exhibition, the Jafza delegation met with several key decision makers from the Turkish construction sector and nearly 20 of them have already agreed to establish opertaions in Jafza this month.
“The building industry is one of the leading sectors in the Turkish economy and it has maintained a steady growth rate over the years, making significant contributions to Turkey’s economy. The country has a strong presence of construction companies who have the potential to expand their operations to other parts in the Middle East region. Jafza will serve as an ideal base for these companies to achieve their goals, as it is strategically located and offers an array of infrastructure and support facilities,” remarked Ahmed Al Falasi.
“The facilities and operational benefits of Jafza have encouraged a large number of Turkish investors to invest in manufacturing and re-importing to Africa and other countries in the Middle East, using Jafza as a base. The amount of exports from Jafza to Europe has reduced in the recent past, as Turkey looks to target new markets other than Europe. Jafza will continue to attract leading Turkish manufacturing companies in the coming months,” said Bassam Yaldarm.
Jafza offers a range of advantages to Turkish companies who plan to set up operations in the zone, like simple administrative procedures, zero duties on all import and export goods and machineries within the free zone, modern communication facilities and excellent support services. In addition, Jafza recently moved into the next level of diversification by launching the South Zone, which has eight specific industry clusters like Digital Valley, Construction Square and Chemical & Plastic Field to cater to the requirements of various industrial segments.
Currently more than 50 Turkish companies involved in trading, manufacturing and services are based in the Jebel Ali Free Zone.
