Jordanian TV viewers prefer Syrian and Egyptian drama series over Jordanian ones.
A major Arab Advisors’ survey of Jordan's Internet users' media consumption habits covered details on the media consumption patterns in Jordan. The survey also provides insights in the media consumption habits in regular months as well as in the Holy month of Ramadan, in addition to newspapers and books reading habits.
A new Arab Advisors online Media Survey of Jordan’s Internet users revealed that 92.5% of Jordanian TV viewers prefer watching Syrian drama series while 61.6% prefer watching Egyptian drama series. This is compared to 26.6% of the respondents who stated that they prefer watching Jordanian drama series.
Moreover, the survey revealed that Jordanian TV viewers prefer subtitled (in Arabic) programs more than dubbed (in Arabic) programs. 55.6% of the respondents who watch TV stated that they prefer subtitled (in Arabic) programs while 24.7% reported preferring the dubbed (in Arabic) programs.
A new major online survey in Jordan was concluded by the Arab Advisors Group in August 10, 2010. The survey report, Jordan Media Survey of Internet Users 2010 was released on September 15, 2010 and provides the results of a major comprehensive online survey of the online community in Jordan. The survey covered television, radio, movie theatres, newspaper and book reading habits and effective type of ads. Respondents were randomly targeted by receiving an email shot in their inbox utilizing multiple reputable mailing-list operators in Jordan. Moreover, leaflets were distributed randomly in some schools and universities. The survey results encompass answers from 1,033 respondents that passed rigorous quality control checks. Quality control was conducted by Arab Advisors Group’s team. The survey was conducted on the general Internet population including both genders and all age groups across Jordan. The survey revealed that nearly 89% of Jordan Internet users read newspapers, with Al Rai and Al Ghad newspapers topping the list. The survey also examined book reading habits among Jordan’s Internet users. The latter stood at around 69% of total respondents surveyed, with 42% of those mentioning reading between two to five books over a period of six months."
