Khaarzi Optimistic US will Change Policy on Iran
Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi said that there may be a change of policy by the new US administration towards Iran, but said “it was too soon to judge,” reported the Iranian News Agency (IRNA) Thursday.
Kharrazi’s remarks came during a press conference following talks with his Greek counterpart George Papandreou in Athens.
Kharrazi noted that US sanctions on Iran have proven to be a failure and harmed mainly the interests of American companies and businesses and not those of Iran's, said IRNA.
He pointed out that US oil companies are keen on doing business with the Islamic republic and stressed that it was time that Washington changed its policies toward Tehran.
Kharrazi arrived in Athens Wednesday on a two-day official visit.
Kharrazi and Papandreou discussed bilateral Greek-Iranian ties, the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf, as well as the developments in the Balkans, said the agency.
IRNA added that foreign ministers of Greece, Iran and Armenia are to meet in Athens on Thursday to discuss trilateral economic and political cooperation - Albawaba.com
