Khartoum Hopes UN Lift Sanctions
Sudan hopes the UN Security Council would respond to Sudan's demand to end the imposed sanctions since 1996, reported ArabicNews.com, quoting a Sudanese official as saying Tuesday.
The official said that "despite fears that the US may use the right of appeal against ending the sanctions, yet the international support for Sudan will make it difficult for Washington to take such a step."
He was quoted as saying that Egypt supports lifting the sanctions, adding that Egyptian officials have discussed this issue with US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright during her last visit to Cairo last week, according to the agency - Albawaba.com
