Final preparations are under way for the parliamentary election in Iraqi Kurdistan's Regional Government (KRG). While a few days left for the elections which are set to be held on Saturday, parties have been campaigning to win enough seats at the Kurdish parliament.
Tens of thousands of supporters of the Gorran Movement, the main opposition party in KRG, took to streets for an election rally in Sulaimaniya. Many party members told Cihan news agency that they are so hopeful and assured to win the elections.
Addressing the crowd, Nawshirwan Mustafa, leader of the Gorran Movement said, “We are here for change,” showing their confidence that they will eventually come power. Mustafa called on the Kurdish people to vote on the election day, September 21. KRG opposition’s leader also told that they will give the Kurdish citizens’ rights back, following a more democratic policy.
