Kuwait asks Libyan envoy to leave
Kuwait has asked Libya's charge d'affaires to leave the country and reduce the number of diplomats in his embassy to three, the Kuwait News Agency reported Sunday.
The agency quoted a Foreign Ministry official as saying Libya's charge d'affaires, Ali Ahmed al-Alous, received an official request to leave the Gulf country and reduce its number of diplomats.
A diplomatic representation of three Libyans "matches the number of Kuwait's diplomatic mission in Tripoli," the official said. The report did not give a reason for Kuwait's decision.
Kuwaiti newspapers, however, reported that earlier this month Libyan demonstrators stormed Kuwait's Embassy in Libya to protest Kuwait's hosting of U.S. and British troops fighting in the war on Iraq. (Albawaba.com)
