A mortar shell hit a French school in Damascus Sunday and government airstrikes targeting a rebel stronghold in Aleppo Saturday has left at least 26 dead. No deaths were reported in the Damascus shelling.
Syrian Prime Minister Wael Halki announced that President Bashar Assad is winning the war against the rebels and that "the era of victory is being created on Syrian soil" during a state visit to Iran.

Syrian opposition and regime fighters clashed in Damascus Thursday, with the Syrian army recapturing Deir Attiyeh less than a week after rebels seized the strategic town.
