Microsoft Jordan and Oasis 500 will be organizing a Startup Pitch session during the Middle East North Africa Information & Communication Technology) (MENA ICT) Forum, that will be organized by the Information Technology Association of Jordan (int@j) on October 10th, 2010. This initiative falls in line with Microsoft's commitment in connecting and supporting startups in Jordan and the region. During the Startup Pitch Session, around seven of the top Jordanian startups will present their ideas to; Corporate Vice President of Evangelism at Microsoft Mr. Walid Abu-Hadba. Abu-Hadba is responsible for Microsoft programs for Startups and Local Software Economy world-wide; in addition to Microsoft Cloud Strategy.

Ms. Rula Ammuri, Country Manager of Microsoft Jordan stated, "Supporting startups in Jordan is a top priority for Microsoft. The Startup Pitch Session is a translation of this commitment and it will be a valuable opportunity for Startups to build connections with Microsoft and to help them grow their businesses".

Ammuri highlighted the initiatives and programs that Microsoft develops and designs to support Startups in the ICT sector, Ammuri said that, "BizSpark is one of Microsoft's main programs that assists startups to gain a competitive advantage in the IT industry. Startups need to make the most of their resources and demonstrate innovation at every opportunity. Microsoft helps these companies to rise above the crowd through the BizSpark initiative. In these tough economic times, BizSpark is an easier way to get a small business or startup idea off the ground, without thinking about software licensing for 3 years".

Ammuri further stated that, "Microsoft's help for Jordanian Startups is estimated at around $10,000,000 in software licenses so far through the BizSpark program. This significant number reflects Microsoft's efforts in supporting the ICT sector especially regarding startup businesses. Fifty-Four Jordanian startups have enrolled so far in BizSpark, and new startups can enroll and seek more information about the program by visiting their website; BizSpark.com".

Oasis 500, a new initiative designed to help and aid entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into businesses, will be cooperating with Microsoft to organize the Startup Pitch Session. Oasis 500 will hold a competition to select seven of the best startups that will get to participate in the Session.

Dr. Usama Fayyad, Chairman of Oasis 500 stated, "Oasis 500 is a Program that concentrates on accelerating the transformation of business ideas into startup companies in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), mobile, and digital media. We provide free world class training courses on how to build businesses; as well as model businesses, seed funding, and follow-on funding.
