December 15 Opening of Style Hong Kong 2008
Quality and Cost-Efficiency of Hong Kong Products Key to Growing Hong Kong-UAE Trade Volume
Style Hong Kong Expo in Dubai, the largest trade exhibition in the Middle East for Hong Kong products, will be held December 15 to 18, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Strong interest in this fifth edition of Style Hong Kong Expo in Dubai reflects the growing demand for Hong Kong products in the UAE and throughout the Middle East region.
Superior quality and the competitive pricing of Hong Kong products are key factors in the steadily growing trade between the UAE and Hong Kong. Total trade between the two economies reached HK$31,920 million in 2007, an increase of 18.4 per cent over 2006. And trade is up more than six per cent for the first 10 months of this year. Hong Kong exports to the UAE last year soared 26 per cent over the previous year, to HK$20,212 million.
Some 200 Hong Kong companies, featuring a wide variety of consumer electronics and IT products, household goods, fashion accessories, homewear and lingerie, as well as hotel supplies and construction materials, will be on display at Style Hong Kong Expo in Dubai.
The exhibition is expected to draw more than 15,000 trade buyers from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, India and even Russia. The event will be held to coincide with the International Autumn Trade Fair, one of the largest trade fairs in the Middle East.
“Now more than ever, given the current market situation, the focus among buyers is on cost-efficiency and value, which have always been the essence of the Style Hong Kong Expo,” said Dubai-based Jeff Ambjorn, Regional Director, Middle East and Africa, for the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, organisers of the expo.
“Whether it’s consumer electronics and IT products, houseware, home décor, hotel supplies or fashion accessories, Style Hong Kong Expo will serve as the one-stop shop for trade buyers looking to source competitively priced, high-quality products,” added Mr Ambjorn.
The 2008 edition of the annual trade show will build on Hong Kong’s highly successful 2007 exhibition, which attracted more than 13,000 visitors and over 200 exhibitors.
Style Hong Kong Expo 2008 aims to feature an even wider range of products and services than shown at last year’s edition. Among the products to be showcased this year are building materials, costume jewellery, consumer electronics, electrical appliances, environmental products, gifts and premiums, household products and home furnishings, handbags and leather products, hardware and DIY products, stationery, toys and games, watches and clocks, and lighting products.
