Middle East Science Fund Advisory Board Member Sir Professor Kroto Showcases his Scientific Research at the Children’s Museum
Following his presentation on “Science and Problems of Society” at the World Economic Forum, Nobel Laureate Sir Professor Harold Kroto conducted a workshop at the Children’s Museum, organized by the Middle East Science Fund (MESF). Professor Kroto, winner of 1996 Nobel Prize in Chemistry and a member of the MESF International Advisory Council, shared his scientific discovery in relation to the Buckyball with teachers and students.
The workshop witnessed a highly interactive discussion between the students and Professor Kroto, where they participated in assembling a molecule of the “Buckyball”, a carbon football shaped structure, containing 60 carbon atoms.
Mrs. Rana Kawar, Director of MESF commented on Kroto’s visit saying “At MESF we aim to motivate and strengthen the role of researchers and sponsor meetings with scientists to highlight their studies and research. As a member of the MESF Advisory Board, Professor Kroto is a distinguished scientist and his achievements and knowledge will benefit the development of the scientific research in the region.”
On his part, Professor Harold Kroto expressed his great pleasure in visiting Jordan and sharing his scientific perspectives, stating that positive discussions with students and teachers tackled the importance of developing scientific research and projects in the Kingdom and the rest of the Middle East region.
It is worth noting that Professor Kroto has been successful in conducting this workshop in a number of other countries including Mexico, United Kingdom, United States and Japan.
