Minister: Jordan to Continue to Withhold New Envoy from Israel
The Jordanian government decided Tuesday that it will continue to refrain from sending a replacement to Israel for its recently retired ambassador there in light of the violence in the Palestinian territories, an official said.
"The Jordanian government has decided to maintain the suspension of the formalities concerning the accreditation of its new ambassador to Israel, which it adopted after the outbreak of violence in the Palestinian territories," Information Minister Taleb Riafi said.
Riafi said Jordan's position would remain unchanged until "Israel ceases its aggression against the Palestinian people and demonstrates a genuine engagement with the peace process."
