Morocco to Help Senegal in Telecoms Sector
Morocco has pledged to help Senegal with reforming its telecoms sector and setting up a telecom regulatory agency, a Moroccan official announced.
Morocco, which adopted a new law on telecoms in 1997, will provide counseling to the Senegalese authorities, which are planning to draft a new law on telecommunications and set up a regulatory authority, said the official, quoted by Maghrebe Arab Presse (MAP).
Morocco will also help Senegal with liberalizing the sector, opening a new mobile phone license and widening the privatization of its telecoms company, said the official.
The agreement was reached after Morocco’s King Mohammed concluded a visit to Dakar on Thursday.
