Morocco-Spain interconnection operational in December
The second electric interconnection between Morocco and Spain, which is called REMO, will be operational next December. Le Matin reports that Morocco and Spain signed an agreement for the REMO interconnection in July 2003 in Casablanca. The project financed by the two countries on equal shares and cost approximately 115 million euros. The new interconnection will increase the electricity capacity from 700 megawatts to 1,400 megawatts, and will secure the electricity network against unpredictable breakdowns.
