Mubarak nearing death
Hosni Mubarak , 84, is in a coma after suffering a stroke, said Wednesday medical and military sources. However, reports about his "clinical death" announced earlier by state news agency MENA, were denied. "He is not clinically dead. Doctors try to revive him. He was put under respirator," said a medical source.
Due to his condition, the former leader was transferred to a military hospital in the outskirts of Cairo. According to security sources, his wife Suzanne went to the hospital to be with him.
Hosni Mubarak has seen a rapid deterioration in his health since his conviction on June 2 for the deaths of nearly 850 people during the uprising in January / February 2011. Following this, he was transferred to the medical wing at Tora prison, in the southern suburbs of Cairo.
Facing acute depression, breathing difficulties, heart problems and hypertension, according to medical sources and his lawyers, he suffered a stroke Tuesday and had to undergo a new cardiac defibrillation.
