Muslim Brotherhood: We will never recognize Israel
Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood confirmed that it will never recognize Israel under any circumstances. It hinted it will put the signed peace treaty with Israel to a national referendum.
The London-based Al Hayat newspaper quoted the deputy leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Dr. Rashad Bayoumi on Sunday as saying: "Is it a condition to recognize Israel? .. This is not an option at all, whatever the circumstances. We do not recognize Israel at all, it is an enemy entity, an occupying and criminal entity" .
Bayoumi stressed that none of the members of the group will sit in the future with an Israeli. He said: "I will not allow myself to sit down with a criminal. We will not deal with Israel in any way."
And on the Egyptian peace treaty with Israel, Bayoumi said: "We will take legal procedures against the peace treaty. It does not oblige us at all, and we will ask the people to express his view."
He explained: "The Brotherhood is calling to respect international agreements, but we will take a legal action against the peace treaty with the Zionist entity. It is the right of any party to reconsider the treaty, and the Egyptian people did not express his view about it.
"We never approved the peace and we will take legal actions against it," he added.
