Nawras recognised for Omanisation achievements at 26th GCC ceremony in Kuwait
Nawras was recently honoured to receive an invitation to join the official Omani delegation attending the Gulf Cooperation Council's (GCC) 9th annual ceremony to celebrate the successful nationalisation programmes of private companies in member countries. Nawras enjoys an Omanisation level of more than 90% in its mobile operation and 57% in its fixed operation and was one of just two companies in the Sultanate to be singled out for recognition at the GCC event in Kuwait.
Oman's delegation was led by the Minister of Manpower, H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al-Bakry. The ceremony was held in the presence of the GCC General Secretary and all GCC Ministers of Labour. Kumail Al-Moosawi and Majid Al-Marzooqi, who both work on the Omanisation programme of Nawras, represented Nawras at the prestigious ceremony.
Speaking on his return to Muscat, Al-Marzooqi, Nawras Legal Counsel, said, "Every year, two companies from each GCC country receive an award and this year we were honoured that Nawras was chosen. It was an unforgettable experience to be able to represent our successful Omani company on the regional stage and on such an important occasion.
"Today, there are 900 people working within Nawras. We are pleased to have talented Omanis and experienced expatriates working together to serve customers while staying true to the Nawras values of being caring, excellent and pleasingly different."
Nawras Head of People Awards, Al-Moosawi, added, "Nawras continues to train and develop many young, talented Omanis who are making an important contribution to our business. One example is the graduate programme which is underway at the moment. We have 33 enthusiastic young people now going through an intensive training in our company, learning about every aspect of how Nawras continues to delight customers with pleasingly different services.
"A further group of 25 are currently on the ILM Diploma Programme learning more about managing people and information, meeting customer needs, understanding organisations and gaining more financial knowledge and skills. Yet another group of Nawras people recently completed courses on report writing and professional communications as part of their ongoing professional development."
