Netanyahu: Construction in east Jerusalem to continue
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday said that Israel would continue to build in Jerusalem in the same way that it has over the last 42 years. "The building in Jerusalem and in all other places will continue in the same way that has been customary over the last 42 years," said Netanyahu during a party meeting.
Obama administration slammed Israel after announcing the construction of 1,600 units in the occupied East Jerusalem during a visit by U.S. Vice President Joe Biden last week. He said that in Spetember, when the 10-month settlement freeze ends, construction in the West Bank would continue unabated. "The cabinet's decision to end the construction freeze after 10 months remains," Netanyahu said.
His comments came after reports the U.S. is pressing Israel to scrap the east Jerusalem building project.
