One Israeli soldier killed, six wounded as two Palestinians, including girl, shot dead
A few mortar rounds on Thursday afternoon hit an Israeli military post close to the settlement of Morag, in Gaza Strip. One Israeli soldier was reported dead. Israeli sources confirmed also that three troops were seriously wounded. Three others were lightly injured.
Earlier, a 9-year old girl was killed early Thursday when Israeli forces shelled houses in Khan Younis city neighbourhood of al-Amal, witnesses and Palestinian medical sources said.
Witnesses told WAFA that the Israeli soldiers, stationed at Israeli military towers located western the city, shelled the houses in the neighbourhood with heavy machineguns, killing the girl. Medics in the city confirmed that Rania Arram was killed after being shot with a direct live bullet in the neck.
On Thursday evening, Israeli forces killed the local leader of al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades in the West Bank city of Qalqilia.
Late on Wednesday, a Palestinian died of wounds he sustained earlier when Israeli soldiers raided the Jabalia refugee camp, northern Gaza Strip, two weeks week ago, locals said. They added that Esam Abu Etima, 30, died of severe wounds he sustained on October 2, 2004.
In the West Bank, 15 Palestinians were arrested early Thursday by Israeli soldiers in Bethlehem, Hebron and Nablus.
In Bethlehem, seven men were arrested as Israeli troops broke into the city and conducted a wide-scale search campaign. The arrested are: Suleiman Salah 16, his brother Mahmood 13, Munzer Salah 18, Mohammed Youssef 16, Youssef Said 14, Qotaiba Kwazya 17, and Fady al-Hassanat 22.
In Hebron, Israeli soldiers arrested six citizens as they went on rampage inside the city, witnesses said. In Nablus, two Palestinians, Ali Abu al-Ruz 20 and Khaled Marouf 18, were arrested when Israeli forces besieged several houses in the city refugee camp of Beit Ein al-Maa.
