Paris to help train 400 university Professors in Algeria
The French Minister of International Cooperation and French Speaking Countries, Xavier Darcos, has pledged in a conference in Paris to aid Algeria train 400 university professors and 20,000 other lecturers, November 1, according to Algerian press reports.
As part of Algeria's reform process, the country is changing legislation to absorb teachers from abroad. Darcos described the initiative not as an aid package but as a project of mutual benefit. It is believed there is a plan for educated Algerians in France to return to Algeria to boost educational levels.
Algeria's young population is increasingly attending university. The number of university students is set to double before 2008. (albawaba.com)
