Philips’ FIFA World Cup Contest Winners Enjoy the Experience of a Lifetime
Royal Philips Electronics recently awarded three lucky consumers of Philips’ Domestic Appliances from the Gulf region of the Middle East with an all expenses paid trip to Germany in celebration of the FIFA World Cup 2006. The contest was held in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. For many fans, this was the trip of a lifetime, and the culmination of a lifelong love of football and the World Cup itself. The winners were able to attend various highly anticipated matches at the event, and witness their favourite teams win and battle against different rivals. Winners were selected after they purchased a Philips Domestic Appliance and sent an SMS to a number given to them on a scratch card attached to their product. The winners were then selected in a raffle from those who sent a text. For many, this experience was their first time to not only Germany, but to Europe as well. “This was my first World Cup game and my first time to Germany,” said Mr. Sushil Arora, one of the winners of the contest. “Philips makes a good product and to win something like this is a great bonus on top of that. Like most people I played football as a child, and so watching this game brought back memories.” The trip lasted a total of three days, with flight expenses and game tickets fully covered.
