PNA warns Israel of resuming assassination attacks as more houses demolished in Rafah
The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) on Saturday warned Israel of resuming its assassination attacks against leading Palestinian figures, and condemned the threats of killing Sheikh Ahmad Yassin, spiritual leader and founder of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
Nabil Abu Rudeina, Palestinian President Yasser Arafat's media advisor, told reporters in Ramallah that Israel will return all the region to square one if it resumes its attacks.
"This will definitely contribute in escalating the situation in the region, as well as returning us back to square one," Abu Rudeina said.
Furthermore, Dr. Sa'eb Erekat, Minister of Negotiations Affairs, told Al Jazeera satellite channel that the Israeli assassinations would expand "the vicious circle of violence, bloodshed and chaos, which would throw the entire region in an endless turmoil, and push back the prospects of a ceasefire."
Several Israeli security officials said on Friday that the assassinations would resume after Wednesday's attack on "Erez" checkpoint.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces incurred Saturday dawn into the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah, and its bulldozers razed a number of Palestinian houses there, IPC reported.
A contingent of Israeli troops stormed early on Saturday dawn the Barahma neighborhood, near the Egyptian-Palestinian borders, just south of the Rafah city, and started bulldozing several Palestinian-owned houses, Palestinian security sources were quoted as saying.
They said that the houses of Abdelkarim Qeshta, Atta Qeshta, were completely demolished, while those of Mohammad Qeshta, Abdullah Qeshta and Abdelsallam Qeshta, were partially demolished.
Also, shortly before pulling out of the area, Israeli forces bulldozed completely the houses of Said Barhoum and Ne’ma Abu Jazzar, as well as partially demolished a local mosque, the sources confirmed. (Albawaba.com)
