The prestigious Imperial Russian Ballet to perform “Swan Lake”
JUNO and Madinat Jumeirah have announced that the world renowned Imperial Russian Ballet will perform the prestigious “Swan Lake” in Dubai from the 5th to the 9th of June 2006 at the Madinat Theatre in the Souk Madinat Jumeirah.
The Imperial Russian Ballet has toured around the world, having performed in Japan, Austria, Finland, Portugal, Brazil, Germany, France, Switzerland and Lithuania. Italy was one of their recent destinations, where they performed at the Winter Olympic Games in Torino, an event that only hosts the best of the best. The Imperial Russian Ballet is now bringing its glamorous production “Swan Lake” to Dubai for the first time.
“We are delighted to bring such a globally recognised ballet to Dubai. Swan Lake has received fantastic reviews all over the world and I am sure this is going to be an experience Dubai will never forget. I have seen Swan Lake performed by the Imperial Russian Ballet in Moscow and I was absolutely awed by it and cannot wait to see it again in Dubai” said James Freeman, Managing Director of JUNO.
“Swan Lake” transports the audience into a fairy tale land where an evil genius has bewitched sweet girls by turning them into graceful swans. The terrible spell can be removed only when someone falls in love with Odette, the Queen of swans. The hero, Prince Siegfried is willing to sacrifice his life for the sake of his love for Odette. Finally love conquers evil and the evil genius dies. Siegfried and Odette, surrounded by nymphs, sirens, and naiads, are carried away into the temple of ever-lasting happiness.
The performance which takes place over 4 acts has sets and special effects flown in from Russia and Europe. “The entire venue is going to be converted into a fairytale setting and we expect the audience to be totally absorbed by the atmosphere; we have gone to great lengths to ensure that this experience will be an unforgettable one”, said Jayne Austin-Price, Director of Retail and Entertainment at Madinat Jumeirah.
Tickets for this exclusive event will be available at the Madinat Theatre Box Office or for further information please call the Box Office on 04 366 6546 / 04 366 6550.
