Qaddumi, Kharazi call for continuation of struggle against Israel
Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) political chief Faruq Qaddumi met with Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi Saturday in the Islamic Republic’s capital Tehran, where both men called for the Palestinian armed struggle against Israeli occupation to continue.
"We need to resist and continue the struggle and the jihad (holy war)," he said as he arrived in Tehran.
Qaddumi called for "international forces in the occupied territories in order to oust Israeli forces and proclaim a Palestinian state."
Later on, he met with Kharazi, and both men called for the 20-month-old intifada or uprising to continue, state radio reported, according to AFP.
Kharazi conveyed, "resistance is the only way for the Palestinians to defeat" Israel.
Qaddumi was also expected to hold talks with Iranian President Mohammad Khatami. (Albawaba.com)
