Qatar Energy Investments Reach 100 Billion Riyals
Minister of Energy and Industry, Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah said that investments in the energy sector in Qatar would reach 70 billion Qatari Riyals (an estimated 20 billion U.S. Dollars) within the upcoming five years, according to Qatar News Agency.
In an interview with Al Sharq published Wednesday, the Minister added that energy investments during the last five years reached a sum of 28 billion Qatari Riyals.
The News Agency added that investments in the energy field indeed were expected to reach 100 billion Qatari Riyals in a period of 10 years, to cover giant projects. These projects include gas liquefaction schemes, petrochemical projects and the expansion of LNG export facilities within the Dolphin project with the UAE. The Minister added that Qatar’s LNG would also be exported to Bahrain and Quwait with the Dolphin project in the near future.
