Kuwait to propose solution to Qatar-Gulf rift in near future, say sources
Kuwait expects "positive steps" to be implemented to end the Gulf rift between Qatar and other GCC countries, according to Reuters.
“There will be very positive steps in the future regarding this ... I hope this week. Part of this will be the ambassadors going back,” Kuwait’s undersecretary for foreign affairs Khaled Al Jarallah told Reuters.
Jarallah also mentioned that all Gulf states were interested in repairing their "brotherly ties."
Kuwait is allegedly planning to present a solution to end the rift in the near future, according to a Gulf diplomat who asked to remain anonymous. However, Saudi Arabia has called on Qatar to compromise before talks or solutions to the rift can even be discussed.
Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain withdrew their diplomatic envoys from Doha last month in protest of what they describe as Qatar's "political meddling and giving support to Islamist groups."
Qatar has denied all allegations of interference and meddling.
