Qatari Emir Donates $3m to US
Qatar's Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani has donated $3 million to the United States in solidarity with the victims of last month's terror attacks, a newspaper reported Wednesday.
Sheikh Hamad donated $1 million to the World Trade Center relief fund, $1 million to the families of firemen killed when the center's towers collapsed and $1 million to the Cornell University hospital, "which has played a great role in the aftermath of the attacks," Al-Raya said.
The Qatari leader, who currently chairs the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), arrived in the United States on Monday on a five-day working visit for talks on the aftermath of the September 11 attacks in New York and Washington.
