QTA "Backs the Bid" with a new promotional package
Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has teamed up with Discover Qatar and the Qatar 2022 Bid Committee to launch a special promotional package that offers a 2-night stay at participating luxury hotels and complimentary organized tours around Qatar for 2022 Qatari riyals. The package, offered to residents as well as regional and international visitors, combines QTA's "48 Hours in Qatar" campaign with the excitement of Qatar's bid to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Mr. Ahmed Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority, commented: "Earlier this year, we launched our "48 Hours in Qatar" campaign, aimed at promoting awareness of Qatar's culture and upscale tourism attractions to stopover travelers and international business travelers, encouraging them to extend their stay in Qatar. With this 2022 package, we invite residents as well as regional visitors to enjoy a 48 hours vacation in Qatar to take advantage of the numerous cultural attractions, historic sites and sporting events in Qatar. Combining QTA's 48 hours campaign with the country's bid to host the FIFA 2022 World Cup will raise the excitement around our bid." Inspiring residents of Qatar to spend their vacations in the country, to learn about the culture and traditions of the country, is a major initiative of Qatar Tourism Authority. "A strong culture of domestic tourism is important to our long term strategy, as local residents essentially become ambassadors for Qatar to international visitors," said Mr. Al Nuaimi.
A World Cup in Qatar would be the first global sporting event to be hosted by the Middle East, bringing greater unity and understanding between people from every continent and perfectly reflecting the FIFA slogan 'For the Game for the World', according to Nasser Al Khater, Communications Director of the Qatar 2022 BID Committee.
"We are enthusiastic about the support Qatar Tourism Authority is showing as it promotes Qatar's hospitality and tourism industry through this QR2022 package," said Al Khater. "We will use the QR2022 special package as a further opportunity to showcase our country's hospitality and the variety of cultural and lifestyle activities Qatar has to offer, such as our pristine beaches or adventuring out on the sand dunes, shopping at Souq Waqif or walking around the Cultural Village, visiting the Museum of Islamic Art or the historical sites across the country."
Participating hotels in the Back the Bid package are the Grand Hyatt Doha, Doha Marriot Hotel, Grand Regency and Ramada Plaza. The QR2022 package can be booked through Discover Qatar of Qatar Airways Holidays, who will organize an enlightening half-day city tour around Doha. Additional tours, including desert tours, as well as flight packages, are available as add-on options. Guests booking the package will be offered gift items and memorabilia provided by the Qatar 2022 Bid Committee. The package offer is valid starting November 10.
"At Grand Hyatt Doha, we believe that there is nothing more important than supporting the country and community in achieving their higher goals and ambitions in all aspects as in the end, the tourism sector will always benefit," said Tareq Ghaleb Bagaeen, Director of Sales & Marketing at the Grand Hyatt Doha. "This package which is being launched under the guidance of QTA and in cooperation with Qatar Airways Holidays will help increase awareness of Qatar's 2022 bid aspirations through a method where visitors and residents alike can benefit from in a pro-active manner by purchasing this fantastic value package. At the Grand Hyatt Doha, the hotel is offering fantastic accommodation with benefits including airport transfers, complimentary upgrade to Grand Sea View Room, breakfast and late checkout."
In November, Qatar will play host to several important international events, above all the much anticipated friendly football match between Brazil and Argentina at Khalifa Stadium in Doha which will showcase once again the passion for the beautiful game. "For the occasion, we are planning numerous collateral events which will give our visitors a taste of what a World Cup in Qatar in 2022 would be like," added Al Khater.
