Qtel Offers Qatar’s Best Summer Roaming Rates
Qtel today launched a fantastic roaming offer for people taking a vacation this summer, with some of the most affordable rates for using your Qtel phone while abroad.
With thousands flying off for rest and relaxation this summer, Qtel has used its international reach to create a Summer Roaming Zone that provides great rates in popular destinations like the Maldives, Thailand, Austria, Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, the UK, Egypt, Tunisia, and more.
In many cases, the rates on offer with Qtel phones will be less than the cost of calling home from a national line in those countries.
The offer sees local call prices charged at QR1.99 and calls home to Qatar cut to QR4.99 per minute, offering some of the most affordable roaming rates in the region. This represents up to a 60 percent saving for customers spending their vacation in these countries and means that customers can call home from Europe for less than EUR1.00 per minute, or call locally for less than EUR0.50 per minute.
Customers will also be sent dedicated SMS telling them about Qtel’s preferred partner and the tariffs on offer when they land in their holiday destination, to provide holiday-makers with peace of mind about the cost of calling home.
“Qtel wants people to relax and enjoy their summer holidays, so we’ve made sure they know they’re getting great rates when they use their mobile phone while travelling abroad. This special summer promotion provides the best roaming rates available in Qatar, and ensures that people can use their Qtel phone with confidence around the world,” said Adel Al Mutawa, Executive Director, Group Communications, Qtel.
Qtel has been through a significant period of international expansion in recent years, and has developed a huge network of preferred partners. By deploying this international network, Qtel is able to offer the most affordable roaming rates available for people in Qatar.
It has also developed a technologically-advanced intelligent network for its customers, which enables the company to keep people informed of the current rates by SMS wherever they travel in the world.
Qtel ensured that calls home to Qatar were also included in the offer, to ensure that people felt comfortable calling home during the holidays.
“Because we understand this market and the needs of the community, we are able to offer promotions at the time when people need them, and in the manner which benefits them most. We know that many people travel abroad during the hot summer months of July and August, so we wanted to offer a truly beneficial promotion that cuts their costs during their holidays,” concluded Al Mutawa.
Qtel continues to offer its SmartRoamer service, which offers great roaming rates and an easy-to-understand price range for customers travelling within the GCC.
The SmartRoamer service has been designed to keep the cost of calling for travellers down, through an all-new, standardized approach to roaming. This enhanced service means that Qtel’s customers can benefit from standardized rates when calling home while abroad and standardized call rates across specific international zones.
Customers making calls while abroad can also benefit from Qtel’s Nojoom programme, the special reward scheme that awards Nojoom Points, which can be redeemed for Rewards, for every Riyal spent. This is the first summer that Nojoom has been available, and many customers are already benefiting by using points with partners like Qatar Airways to add spice to their holidays.
The Summer Roaming Promotion runs until the end of September and the special rates are being made available to all Shahry – Pay Monthly customers. Full details are available on the Qtel website at www.qtel.com.qa/SummerRoamingPromotion.do
